A Unique Way to Create Interaction on Facebook

Recently a friend of mine contacted me regarding the the work she was doing with her writing and involving her Facebook contacts. What was intended to be a brief examination turned into a journey into another World created by multiple people on face book. I was really drawn and intrigued by how she created this interaction.

Figuring and other readers might be interested in how she accomplished the interaction she has achieved so far, I asked her to write up what she did so I could share it. It's worth checking out but be warned, you might need an extra twenty minutes at least to catch up on the story so far:

  • The Japanese Masseuse – A Social Media Reality Fiction???
Now what is that all about?

I’m a writer/ storyteller and it all starts all from my Facebook page, Bee Pedersen – author. I write traditional books, e-books and screenplays. Recently I started something new I personally haven’t seen before - I write Social Media Reality Fiction.

I know; an Oxymoron. Let me explain.

I write a murder mystery titled ‘The Japanese Masseuse’ where I have people from Facebook play all the roles. I use their pictures, real names and characteristics/personalities and like actors they play the roles in the story.

The story develops from week to week and each chapter is posted on my blog ‘Bee Yourself’. I get feed back from the readers/ characters, and so the story develops.

Why: I love stories – find it exciting to share and get feed back. I thought it would be a great social media experiment to create a story based on real people. Incorporating real people is inspiring and leads me to new and otherwise unknown stories. Just as important it creates new connections between people and so new stories again. And why not - everybody wants 15 minutes of fame. This is a new kind of Social Media Reality Show.

Result: It encourages people to read stories. People form new contacts, friends and business constellations because of the story. I have had people tell me that they have created new business contacts and ideas because of the what’s happening in the story.
