The Internet is amazing. Back in the 80's when I was attending a boarding high school in Oregon, I took part in a pen pal program with some foreign language students from China. Up to about 15 years ago, Lu Yang and I traded letters. Sometimes often, sometimes just once a year.
About 15 years ago we lost touch due to moving and the address changes that follow. In 2002 I attempted to find her, but no go.
Then, out of the blue, she emailed me. She had found some of the old letters when we were pen pals, looked me up and bam, there I was on Facebook. So we had a little chat today by cell phone. The world has changed so much, and become so small in many ways.
Well, Lu Yang is attending to her family, and I have to go help my mother-in-law with her computer. But at least now we can be pen pals again. Only this time, we can email, video chat, Facebook each other or maybe use Skype.
I wonder what the next 10 years holds in store for us?
