Easy Referral Marketing for Your Business

Shareasale_3_step_process

Referrals. Often the lifeblood of a small business that focuses on customer service. But the logistics of maintaining a referral marketing program can be tough for already overloaded business owners. Is there a way to simplify referral marketing while increasing it's effects cumulatively?

Yes, there is.

There are 3 pieces to this puzzle:

  1. The merchant (your company)
  2. The potential referral partner (clients or perhaps partner companies that you work with in some way, that have some kind of web presence, even if it's just a Facebook personal profile.)
  3. The software that makes it all possible.

The software makes allows 1 and 2 above to work together efficiently. Both the merchant and the potential affiliate sign up for different parts of the software. The merchant pays a sign up fee, the affiliate doesn't have to pay anything.

The merchant has set up steps to do. Banner ads and some text to come up with for affiliates to use. Then the merchant has to define if it wants to give a percentage of the sale, flat referral fee, etc.

The affiliates sign up to work with the merchant (your company and other merchants that are using the same software), download the merchant's links and/or banners and place them on their website, facebook page, blog post, article, or email.

If you can identify a number of happy customers, vendors, suppliers that would be willing to promote you, it could have a nice cumulative effect in terms of new leads and/or customers. When a sale occurs, the merchant informs Shareasale who then issues a check automatically to the affiliate! Of course, the merchant has to deposit some funds into an account for the commission checks. Funds maybe withdrawn by the merchant at any time.

The software tracks everything for both sides. The affiliate can see the number of hits to their banner ads, and the Merchants can track progress through their side of the software. Pretty slick! Click below if you'd like more information.

Demystifying Social Media Webinar Now Available!

Is this you trying to sort out Social Media for your business?

Spaghetti-kid

Social Media has moved to the forefront of business marketing. But many small and medium-size businesses or independent professionals are still struggling to gain an overall perspective on the topic. Where should one start? What social networks are important?

In this recorded webinar, I demystify Social Media and teach how to use it to create a strong online presence and effectively build a 24/7 referral network that never sleeps. You will learn:

  • The 3 Fundamental steps of any online marketing campaign
  • The main reason businesses need to have a strong online presence
  • The Silent Secret of Social Media and why it’s so powerful
  • Where online Social NWs: Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter etc., fit in the overall marketing picture
  • How to use online social networks to “show up” in front of prospects who are looking for your product or service right now

This webinar is very basic, and I attempt to undercut what most people assume is already understood. I created this video because I find that so many people use terms like Google, blogs, Internet and web, yet don't actually fully understand what these words mean. As a result they struggle with the various programs available online (free and otherwise).

Also often missing is an overall perspective of where social media fits into a company's marketing mix. This webinar has a very important overview of the entire topic of marketing online. I hope it's helpful!

A Unique Way to Create Interaction on Facebook

Recently a friend of mine contacted me regarding the the work she was doing with her writing and involving her Facebook contacts. What was intended to be a brief examination turned into a journey into another World created by multiple people on face book. I was really drawn and intrigued by how she created this interaction.

Figuring and other readers might be interested in how she accomplished the interaction she has achieved so far, I asked her to write up what she did so I could share it. It's worth checking out but be warned, you might need an extra twenty minutes at least to catch up on the story so far:

  • The Japanese Masseuse – A Social Media Reality Fiction???
Now what is that all about?

I’m a writer/ storyteller and it all starts all from my Facebook page, Bee Pedersen – author. I write traditional books, e-books and screenplays. Recently I started something new I personally haven’t seen before - I write Social Media Reality Fiction.

I know; an Oxymoron. Let me explain.

I write a murder mystery titled ‘The Japanese Masseuse’ where I have people from Facebook play all the roles. I use their pictures, real names and characteristics/personalities and like actors they play the roles in the story.

The story develops from week to week and each chapter is posted on my blog ‘Bee Yourself’. I get feed back from the readers/ characters, and so the story develops.

Why: I love stories – find it exciting to share and get feed back. I thought it would be a great social media experiment to create a story based on real people. Incorporating real people is inspiring and leads me to new and otherwise unknown stories. Just as important it creates new connections between people and so new stories again. And why not - everybody wants 15 minutes of fame. This is a new kind of Social Media Reality Show.

Result: It encourages people to read stories. People form new contacts, friends and business constellations because of the story. I have had people tell me that they have created new business contacts and ideas because of the what’s happening in the story.

Picking Domain Names: With or Without Keywords?

Matt Cutts from Google gives a heads up on using keywords in domain names. I guess we don't really have any control over what they do (ya think?), but it's good to know there might be some changes in how Google values sites with keywords in the name.

Good news for sites with brands as a name, however.  But watch the video, and you decide. What's your experience with using keywords in a URL? What do you think about the potential shift of importance Matt talks of in the video?
